What is Polished Concrete? Concrete Polishing is the act of changing a concrete floor surface, with or without aggregate exposure, to achieve a specified level of gloss using one of the listed classifications: Bonded Abrasive Polished Concrete, Burnished Polished Concrete, or Hybrid Polished Concrete.
Concrete Polishing is a vibrant part of the concrete flooring industry. The benefits of polished concrete are extensive, including ease and lower cost of maintenance. In addition, polished concrete, when fully refined, will meet or exceed the national standards for slip coefficient.

WHAT IS the Triple Black Diamond Polishing System?
It is a system…3 Tools, 3 Chemicals and a RA meter
WHAT DOES IT DO?
The system delivers less installation time, lower costs and measurable results. The tooling combined with the chemicals lowers the installation time while the integral use of the RA meters ensures consistent and sustainable results.

Technology at work for you
Revolutionizing the concrete polishing industry
Triple Black Diamond is a concrete polishing system which uses Precision Technology measured by surface texture RA meters. These meters measure the texture of a surface any surface. They are used in the metal industry to ensure the surfaces of critical parts were manufactured to specific RA numbers no matter where the plant was located in the world. We use that technology to measure the RA texture of the floor throughout its refinement process.
This ensures two critical things happen. First, the floor is refined or (polished) to a certain RA number PRIOR to proceeding to the next polishing tool. This takes the guesswork out of knowing exactly where the floor is during the refinement process. Second, it gives all parties, architect, owner and contractor the knowledge of what the final RA averages are when the floor refinement has been completed. The architect knows the spec has been met, the owner has received what he paid for and the contractor has delivered an installation in less time with guaranteed results.

Is measuring surface texture new?
The fact is that using RA in concrete polishing is fairly new. “In fall 2013, the Concrete Sawing & Drilling Association CSDA working with ASME, ASTM and ACI, issued a specification titled “Measuring Concrete Micro Surface Texture.” Briefly, the standard, commonly called ST-115, details methods and sets parameters for measuring the average roughness of a concrete surface. This measurement, the Ra, describes the surface refinement, the average difference between the profile peaks and valleys — the scratches — measured in micro-inches. The Ra is key to achieving the desired appearance, performance and sustainability of the finished polished floor.
The bottom line about RA
· RA takes the guesswork out of diagnosing the level of scratches in a floor. So if you did not refine the floor and take out all of the scratches you must go back 2 or 4 steps and start over
· RA measurements during the polishing process and at the end of each step ensures you are hitting your numbers and move on to the next tool.
· RA helps the owner know what quality they are getting, and the contractor knows if he hit his numbers to meet the job specifications.
